Anisodontea ‘Elegans Princess’
Anisodontea ‘Elegans Princess’ is a compact evergreen shrub with 3 lobed, deep green hairy leaves. Heavy blooms of showy pink flowers (similar to hibiscus flowers) are formed one after another from summer to autumn. Pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies are attracted to the high nectar content of Anisodontea and commonly stop by for a drink.
One of our favourite plants for its performance. Great as a focal piece, in containers, on a patio or added to borders. Water regularly in dry weather, prefers a sheltered spot in full sun but is not drought tolerant. You can prune, but not too heavily into shape after flowering if needed. Fertilise regularly with a general fertiliser to optimise health and flowering, thrives in high organic matter compost. Benefits from a thick layer of mulch or some insulated protection in winter, this will increase the lifespan into several years. Treat as a tender evergreen.
