Gaura Lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’
Gaura Lindheimeri is a much sought after resilient perennial. It is composed of narrow red to green colored leaves that individually protrude all along the stems throughout the growing season. This is followed by a long season of flowering, producing masses of 4 petaled pink flowers from summer to late autumn.
Gaura is a hardy perennial plant preferring full sun which is where it will perform best. One thing that is fairly important to consider when planting is to provide the correct soil. Gaura appreciates being placed in light sandy soils in exposed conditions.
A well adapted plant that suits most garden layouts including formal and cottage gardens. Due to it’s natural habitat in poor soils, while not technically an Alpine, Gaura can be treated as such and makes a wonderful addition to any rock garden. Great for wildlife gardens as the flowers attract pollinating insects such as butterflies and bees until just before winter. A herbaceous perennial so dies to the ground in winter to emerge from its root rhizomes in spring.
