Hebe ‘Franciscana Variegata’
Hebe ‘Franciscana Variegata’ is a compact evergreen shrub commonly used in formal border layouts and cottage gardens. A universally attractive shrub, it really can fit into most landscapes and situations. It is also incredibly hardy and will at least tolerate most locations of planting, including shade, which is something that landscapers enjoy to work with. This is of course at the cost of it’s performance in general, but it’s variegated leaves still break the scenery wherever they are planted. Drought tolerant, Hebe enjoys full sun and with this provided will produce a dazzling display of tiny bunches of purple flowers on the tips of the stems from July to September.
Probably one of the easiest and most versatile shrubs you can grow. Fully hardy and will bloom year after year. Due to the plants versatility it does very well for beginner gardeners and low maintenance borders. Naturally a great performer even if left alone but appreciates a layer of mulch during winter. Great for wildlife gardens and pollinating insects such as butterflies and bees who love to stop by for the flowers.
