Giant Shashta Daisy ‘Leucanthemum x Superbum’
Giant Shashta Daisy breeds are commonly used in low maintenance cottage garden borders for their long lasting blooms of large flowers. The flowers are typical of the Leucanthemum(Daisy) genus with the distinctive white petals surrounding a yellow centre. Towering past most other border plants at a height of up to 120cm, not much else can draw in the eye as much as the masses of refreshing bright white petals breezing in the sun. A hardy and herbaceous perennial. When planted correctly you can always depend on this plant to perform to a high standard year after year with a minimal amount of effort. Relentless flowering from summer and into autumn. After this the deep green rubbery foliage will retreat – although usually not completely – to it’s clump forming rhizomes where it waits until the following spring.
Tolerates part shade but thrives in full sun. Soil should be average to moist and free draining. Leans towards acidic and ericaceous soil conditions but can be treated normally with no problems.
One of our favourite plants here at Little Big Plants. Having won many awards of garden merit and most gardeners to testify this we hope you can join them and get excited about these marvellous plants. Great in a sunny garden border and ideal for use in wildlife gardens. Many pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies enjoy the flowers. Easy plant even for beginner gardeners.
